We want to encourage women to study the Word in community. Being a leader can be intimidating, so we want to help women see that they can lead a group without the formal title of “Bible study leader.” That’s why we’re starting the TogetHER Group Challenge on January 15! TogetHER Groups are groups of two to three women who meet together to study God’s Word with anyone—friends from church, neighbors, mentees, and so forth.

When you sign up for the challenge, you will get a welcome email with some resources like no-bake snacks and conversation starters. Then, each week for eight weeks beginning January 15, you will get an email with an additional challenge (e.g., pray for your together group members every day this week), encouragement, or other free resource. 

To encourage you to join the challenge, we wanted to share some testimonials of women we know who have been impacted by this type of Bible study group.

TogetHER Group Testimonials

An older lady from my church asked me if I would meet with her for coffee once a week for six weeks to study prayer and help her remember the perspective of a young mother. I was so intimidated by the strength of her faith and the way she seemed to have it all together. I showed up with a cranky baby on my hip, hair a mess and wearing clothes that were somewhere between pj’s and gym apparel. Unbeknownst to me, as burdened and weary as I was, she was also burdened and weary in a different way, walking through the loneliness of strained relationships with her adult children. We came together and laid our burdens at the foot of the cross, diving deep into prayer and met every week for nearly six months. Now, twelve years later, she is still one of my very dearest prayer warriors.

There were a few women I met in my neighborhood as we were out walking our dogs or watching our kids on bikes. I asked if they would be interested in doing a Bible study together at my home while the kids played. Our group and friendship continues even though we represent different churches and denominations!

It was crazy. The Lord continued to press upon my heart these two young women I’d met at a coffee shop. They were both young single professionals in their twenties. I was ten years older, married with kids. But we started meeting, praying, and spending time studying the Bible together. My life is so much richer because of the time we spent together during that season, and now we are still great friends 25 years later.

One of my college teammates was curious about Christianity, so I asked if she would want to read through the book of John together. While initially I was nervous about “leading” us, I quickly realized I was learning just as much in our time together in the Word as she seemed to be. Looking back, I see how God used those weekly meetings to humble me and teach me to rely on Him to lead those times—that He had so much to teach both my friend and me about Himself!
