OkCupid's New Ads Urge Daters to Ask the Tough Questions to Find Their Match
"You choose what matters."
A new ad campaign for dating site OkCupid encourages singles to be confident in their choices and to know that they don't have to compromise their worldviews for the sake of a date. The print and video ads also serve as a reminder that the fundamental basis of OkCupid is to answer questions about yourself, your interests and your beliefs in order to find a suitable match — rather than just swiping mindlessly through a stack of faces.

In a series of YouTube videos, OkCupid asks some important questions, including "Could you date someone who couldn't be bothered to vote?" and "Foreplay, or get right to it?" They're clearly meant to get daters thinking about what they really want to find in a partner at every level — mental, emotional, physical and even spiritual — and OKC offers up the ultimate solution in their tagline: "Start Answering. Start Dating."
OkCupid also revealed 2020's top four biggest dating dealbreakers according to users' answers. The top spot overwhelmingly went to politics, which is not surprising in today's tense climate. The ever-controversial topic netted more than 35 million responses as a major red flag when it comes to a potential date.

It's no surprise then, that several of OkCupid's new print ads fall along those political lines.
"It's OK to only match with someone you can march with."
"It's OK to be a party-line voter and a swing dater."
"It's OK to not date a man who won't vote for a woman."
The other three biggest dating dealbreakers for 2020 were revealed to be music, travel, and voting. The results don’t delve any deeper into the details of these broad topics and what exactly makes them dealbreakers, so we’re left with some questions of our own ... Is it a dealbreaker if a potential date thinks the evolution of music has peaked with “Old Town Road?” What if a potential date doesn’t care to travel any farther than, say, Branson, Missouri? They may not be the precise questions you’ll find as you fill out your OkCupid dating profile, but you just might want to ask them anyway.
So, if you’re still looking for your perfect match, maybe it’s finally time to sit down and start answering some questions.
